AcuLiving acupuncture is a blend of modern physical medicine & traditional healing

Hello, I’m Marija (pronounced ‘Maria’). I founded AcuLiving to help active people & athletes get out of pain and to improve their overall wellbeing.

Marija Joksimoivic Licensed Acupuncturist

At AcuLiving my goal is to provide practical and intuitive care for a variety ailments. By assessing your physical state, nervous system and energy balance, I can help you to improve your health and empower you to transform your life.

Acupuncture is a clinically effective, time-tested path to physical recovery, improved health and longevity. The therapies I use at AcuLiving are rooted in ancient modalities focused on physical and emotional healing.

Skeptics rest assured! The AcuLiving method is a modern, no-bullshit approach to healing. Straight up, no woo woo (unless you want the woo).

The 4 pillars of the AcuLiving approach are:

  • body awareness

  • nervous system regulation

  • stress reduction

  • sleep optimization

For some patients the treatments are focused on an orthopedic/sports medicine approach to restore muscle function, myofascial health, and to correct postural deviations that contribute to injuries or reduced function.

For other patients the work is more spiritual, integrating intuitive exploration and energy work. This work is called Achemical Healing - a figurative attempt to turn lead into gold. We work toward the fulfillment of your desires and the freedom to live a live of your own choosing, free from cookie cutter conventions and the people pleasing mentality that keeps you living small.

With acupuncture + my magic hands 🙌🏼 I combine various techniques to reduce muscle and joint pain while optimizing the energy flow in the body. I can find blockages, areas of injury and pain, and then treat them so you feel well again.

I specialize in highly advanced needling techniques that get results. This isn’t Mickey Mouse acupuncture. (If you have a strong needle phobia you may want to go elsewhere). You will feel mild to moderate (sometimes strong) sensations during your treatment. This is the appropriate therapeutic response that encourages the mind and body to perform a full system reboot.

My acupuncture technique is powerful yet gentle. Your comfort and safety are the most important thing to me. My results are my reputation.

AcuLiving is more than just acupuncture.

I weave energy work into each session while meticulously assessing your physical condition. I may analyze your posture and identify physical holding patterns. I may also delve into more sensitive matters dealing with your emotions, spirit/heart and overall statWhen I work with you, we are equals. I may be the expert at acupuncture and anatomy, but you are the expert on your body and your life. We work together to influence the outcome of every session.

My treatments are for everyone from all walks of life, whether you’re a competitive athlete with complex injuries or a computer-bound professional experiencing neck and back pain. Whatever your background, my goal is to help you feel good, be relaxed and experience less pain.

A bit more about me.

When I’m not in the clinic I’m probably at a motorcycle race somewhere in the U.S.

My journey towards Eastern medicine began with my own physical pain and discomfort after spending over a decade glued to multiple computer screens, deciphering code, building websites and doing graphic design.

While design satisfied the part of me that loves patterns and symbols, it destroyed my neck and back and frayed my nerves. That’s when I decided to stop everything and hit the restart button on my life. I walked away from technology and stepped onto the path of healing—and I never looked back.

Not long after, I received my Master’s Degree from the Tri-State College of Acupuncture. I was drawn to acupuncture because it views health, wellness and disease through a lens of patterns that focus not only on the body but the spirit too.

My deep understanding of energy and how it affects our wellbeing can be traced back to my childhood. My family came to the U.S. from Serbia when I was 5 years old. I couldn’t speak a word of English, so I had to quickly learn to read a room and communicate non-verbally. To this day, reading a person’s energy is my primary instinct, words come second.

When not working in my clinic, I can usually be found traveling all over the U.S working on a MotoAmerica Motorcycle racing team.

I love traveling, having adventures with friends, listening to music, reading books and riding my motorcycle.
