"I first came to see Dimple in May of 2007 when my partner and I had been trying to get pregnant for nearly 18 months. We conceived two children very easily and my third pregnancy ended in a miscarriage in 2005 after conceiving in the first month of trying. It was very stressful and confusing to then find we were having such trouble conceiving again. We were referred to an assisted conception unit and began a round of numerous tests, which did not result in any major factors to contribute to our failure to conceive. As the months went by I became more and more stressed and was often told to ‘relax’ to help conception!

I have had acupuncture at various other times in my life, for example when pregnant with my first two children as I had terrible headaches, and decided to try acupuncture again to try and relax and help prepare my body for the possibility of a pregnancy.

Dimple took a very detailed history of my problems and then proceeded to help me with my stress relief and concentrating on the possibility that I may have endometriosis as I had very heavy periods with many clots. We proceeded with a combined approached of acupuncture, cupping and some Chinese herbs to try and balance my body and relieve stress.

Dimple was and is fantastic! She listened every week to my woes and I always left the session feeling remarkably relaxed and positive. Less than 5 months later I discovered I was 5 week’s pregnant and was delighted! We then moved our sessions over to concentrate on helping my body be best prepared for the baby as the previous miscarriage was in the back of my mind. Again, after each session I left feeling very positive and recharged. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and still see Dimple to help remain calm and positive and to promote well-being for my baby.

"For years I have been suffering with really painful periods, with bloating, nausea, headaches and severe PMS. The period pain gets so bad that I faint and vomit as the pain increases (usually on day 2 of my cycle). I finally sought help after collapsing at work during a really painful period.

After a chat with my GP I was referred to a gynaecologist who performed a laparoscopy (an operation to look inside you and remove implants and adhesions) in December 2007. I was diagnosed with stage IV endometriosis which was very difficult to comprehend at the time.

After the operation, I thought to myself, ‘well I can just carry on as normal now that I’ve had the operation to remove all of the endometriosis implants and adhesions’. But the pain can back only three months after the operation. I was very upset and felt quite frustrated and lost.

I returned to my gynaecologist in May this year and he said that he recommended hormone treatment (a drug called Zoladex). The hormone treatment aims to shut down ovary function by affecting the pituitary gland, thus inducing a pseudo-menopause. This did not appeal to me one bit so I declined the hormone treatment. The gynaecologist then added me to his surgery waiting list. I agreed to it at the time but changed my mind later as I could not see what would be different this time round.

After another very painful period in June I finally looked to other treatments. I had always felt in the back of mind that acupuncture could help so I decided to visit an acupuncturist.

During my first appointment with Dimple she acknowledged the pain I had been going through and offered a lot of hope. By this stage, I was tired and very sceptical but I gave it a go. Within one month of treatment, my period pain was practically not there! I was gob-smacked! At no point did my GP or gynaecologist suggest acupuncture – instead they recommended painkillers. I had spent the last five years of my life popping codeine painkiller pills every month only to have continued painful periods.

I have been receiving treatment in the form of acupuncture and Chinese herbal pills from Dimple for over four months now and I have not had one single painful period. My cycle is more regular than in previous years (ranging from 28-30 days) and the length of my cycle has reduced from seven to four and a half days."

"I have arthritis in my knees and after being on pain killers I thought I would give acupuncture a go as I was told it relieves the pain especially if you have few treatments. "For over 5 years now I have had a recurrence of cysts in my breasts. I have had 2 operations to remove cysts that have been at the point of being malignant and have been fortunate to avoid the big C so far.
